I may have mentioned this before already, but I absolutely ADORE Moody Bible Studies for Women! Whenever a new title in this amazing series is released, I am anxious to give it a try—and I’ve never been disappointed. The newest study I’ve been enjoying is entitled “Included in Christ: Living a New Story from Ephesians” by Heather Holleman. This 8-week Bible study takes students of the Word on a journey verse-by-verse through the book of Ephesians, and unpacks what it really means to answer the questions: “Who are we? Where do we belong? How do we live included in Christ?”.
A main focal point of this unique study is the practice of overcoming what Heather calls our “Shadow Narratives” with something far better: our “Savior Stories”. Continue reading
While prayer is something we are all familiar with, I believe if we are honest with ourselves it is also something we often struggle with. A new book from Moody Publishers addresses this topic directly with a book by Bill Thrasher, entitled “A Journey to Victorious Praying: Finding Discipline and Delight in Your Prayer Life”. This book is for you “If you’ve ever felt too busy, confused, or unmotivated to pray”.
I love animals, especially dogs—so much so, in fact, that I own two dogs of my own, work at an animal shelter, and am training to become a canine massage therapist! So when the opportunity came along to read a book filled with inspirational dog stories, how could I resist? “Doctor Dog: Healing Touches from Pets We Love” was written by M.R. Wells, and published by Harvest House. Categorized as a Devotional, this little book contains dozens of stories about dogs of all shapes and sizes changing the lives of the people they love, often in amazing ways.
“I Am Found: Quitting the Game of Hide and Seek With God and Others” is the third Moody Bible Study for Women that I’ve had the pleasure of reading. Written by Laura Dingman as a 6-week study guide, this volume is a little shorter than the other books in the series, but packs plenty of insight into each page.
I am so delighted with the new women’s Bible study series from Moody Publishers! The latest treasure I have found within the series was written by Erica Wiggenhorn, and is entitled “An Unexplainable Life: Recovering the Wonder and Devotion of the Early Church”. In this 10-week study, readers delve into the book of Acts, specifically chapters 1 through 12. As Erica explains about Acts, “(it) is the story of Christ’s mission becoming reality in the lives of his followers. To study it is an invitation for it to become your reality and mine.”
Do you enjoy adult coloring books filled with adorable, whimsical, beautiful-but-not-too-detailed illustrations which you can creatively fill with whatever colors you desire? And what if this charming coloring book was filled with Scripture verses, and also had an accompanying devotional page which highlighted each individual verse, and gave you ideas and insights to ponder as you color? Well, as I’m sure you’ve guessed by now, if you answered “yes” to these questions then I have the perfect book for you! “Words of Grace” was created by Jacqui Grace and Dee Arrand, and published by Bethany House in the spring of 2017.
“Reclaiming the Lost Art of Biblical Meditation: Find True Peace in Jesus” is an attractive, compact little book with a big title that makes a big promise. Written by Robert J. Morgan and published by Thomas Nelson in the spring of 2017, this book encourages (and guides) readers to find “the peace of meditation in a biblically sound way.” Although not large in size, the content is insightful and inspiring, and contains a vast amount of practical information to help readers
If you are looking for a fresh, inspiring new way to study God’s word, I have a wonderful suggestion for you! “His Last Words: What Jesus Taught and Prayed in His Final Hours” was written by Kim Erickson and published by Moody Publishers early in 2017. This unique book is a 7-week Bible study of John 13-17, and takes readers through these chapters verse by verse. Because of the content and focus-verses of the book, it would make a wonderful study to delve into during the Easter season.
