The Gripping Conclusion to the Windy City Saga

We can always depend on Jocelyn Green to bring us a heart-wrenching, soul-inspiring story that keeps us on the edge of our seats, as she sweeps us back in time and brings historical events to life through fiction.  I have long been awaiting the conclusion to “The Windy City Saga”, and it was finally released by Bethany House Publishers this spring – yay!  Drawn by the Current” is as unforgettable as the previous stories in the series, and our heroine, Olive Pierce, is a woman I can certainly relate to in ways both big and small.   Continue reading

Invitations to Abundance: Such A Meaningful Experience

Have you ever picked up a book and, as you read it, realized it was such a timely message for your life right at this moment?  Invitations to Abundance: How the Feasts of the Bible Nourish Us Today” by Alicia J. Akins was just such a book for me, because the concept of biblical feasting has been a recurring theme in my life for the last several months.  None of the other resources I’ve read on the topic have been as deep and all-inclusive as this title though, and I am so thankful I was able to dive into this new release from Harvest House Publishers.   Continue reading

A New Look At The Fruits Of The Spirit

“How God Loves Us: 40 Days to Discovering His Character in the Fruit of the Spirit” is a new book from Moody Publishers written by Jessica Thompson.  This special little volume initially drew my attention because it takes such a unique approach to the Fruits of the Spirit as defined in the book of Galatians.  Why?  Because with Jessica as our guide, we step into the truth that it is because God loves us in these ways – joyfully, peacefully, patiently, kindly, with goodness, faithfully, gently, and with self-control – that we can love others in this way too.   Continue reading

The Treasures of Nome Series Will Always Hold A Treasured Place On My Bookshelf

The ending of a series is always a bittersweet moment, isn’t it?  The final story of “The Treasures of Nome” by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse was definitely sigh-worthy for me, as I’ve loved each moment of this saga from the start.  In “Ever Constant” it is Whitney’s turn for a story, and in my opinion she faces the most difficult struggles of all three sisters.   Continue reading

So Much More Than A Pretty Cover

I had never before read a novel by Christina Suzann Nelson, so when I picked up her new released entitled “Shaped By The Waves” I really wasn’t sure what to expect.  I knew it was contemporary fiction about a girl going back to her hometown, and the cover was lovely with the ocean and seagulls gracing the eye-catching paperback… But that was about it!  Boy, was I in for a surprise. Continue reading

The ”American Royalty” Adventures Continue

I have been excited for Grace Hitchcock’s new release from Bethany House, “Her Darling Mr. Day”, ever since last year when the oh-so-memorable first story in the “American Royalty” series became available.  This new tale continues with two of my favourite secondary characters, and takes place in the fascinating southern city of New Orleans in the year 1883.   Continue reading

A Compelling Journey to This Wonder of the World

A Deep Divide” is the first book I’ve read with Kimberley Woodhouse as the sole author.  I’ve previously read books she has co-written in collaboration with Tracie Peterson, but what a joy it was to see Kimberley’s voice shine all on its own!  Published by Bethany House, this story is the first in the “Secrets of the Canyon” series, and I am so looking forward to reading more stories set in this breathtaking and unique location.  From the first pages, this novel captured my attention and held it right until the end – with a sweet romance, nerve-wracking mystery, and lovable characters, I truly had a hard time putting the book down.   Continue reading

A Truly Classic Story, In My Opinion

“I set off for India.  And I discovered that everything I had thought important. . . isn’t.”

This quotation is the underlying theme weaving all the beautiful, poetic pages of Kimberly Duffy’s new novel together.  Gussie Travers, our heroine, pens these words in her journal, and in them we discover the cry of her heart – before she even fully realizes it herself.  Every Word Unsaid” is the third book I’ve read by this incredible Bethany House author, and she truly never ceases to amaze me with her meaningful and thought-provoking novels that also entertain the imagination and are a delight to the senses.  You simply cannot read one of her stories without wanting to visit India, with all its sights and sounds and smells and textures. A Rich, Thoughtful, and Intriguing Tale

Kate Breslin’s sweeping new wartime novel will whisk you away to Scotland, 1918.  Here the shocking drama of one young woman’s desperate attempt at a new beginning collides with a murderous plot to destroy the lives of many, and alter the course of the war.  As Dawn Breaks” was published by Bethany House late in 2021, and is a not-to-be-missed release by any fans of Ms. Breslin’ previous work, or readers who love masterfully-crafted historical novels. What A Special Story

You know you’ve found a rare, special novelist when each time you open up the pages to their fictional world, it feels like a homecoming.  A Flicker of Light” is the first book I’ve read by Katie Powner, and it is also one of the most vivid and poignant stories I’ve enjoyed in years.  By combining the warmth and humour of small-town country life with some of the most heart-wrenching experiences in this world (death and illness of loved ones) Ms. Powner creates a story that reaches deep into our imaginations and touches our souls.
