Each spring I look forward to warmer weather, more time outdoors, and a new book in Irene Hannon’s “Hope Harbor” saga! “Starfish Pier” is actually the sixth book in this heartwarming series, and it feels like returning to a beloved hometown as we once more walk the streets of this Oregon community, smelling the mouth-watering aroma of Charlie’s fish tacos and waving at old friends from previous stories. I know, it’s just a fictitious story, but it’s also so much more! Continue reading

“On a Coastal Breeze” by Suzanne Woods Fisher is the second story in the series of “Three Sisters Island”. It follows the story of the middle sister, Maddie, as she opens her therapy office on the little island that her family now calls home. We also revisit many other secondary characters from the first story. Continue reading
A Bible Atlas That’s So Easily Accessible! Guest Review by Hayley
“The Basic Bible Atlas: A Fascinating Guide to the Land of the Bible” by John A. Beck is the first book I have read that focuses deeply on the geographical settings of the Bible. Many readers, including myself, will wonder why geography is really that important to understanding the Bible. It turns out, however, that it is!
I really like how this book is written. Personally, I don’t really read atlases for enjoyment, but this one is very interesting, and makes the geography of the Bible understandable and relevant to people today. Continue reading
Diving Into the Encounter Between Jesus and Nicodemus
Whether you are new in your walk as a Christian, have been a follower of Christ for a long time, or are still wondering if you should take the step of professing Jesus as your Savior, a new book from BakerBooks is certain to answer many of your questions.
“New Life in Christ: What Really Happens When You’re Born Again And Why It Matters” was written by Steven J. This exchange defines and explains the nature of spiritual rebirth, and all that this means in the life of a Christian. Continue reading
Great Advice – But Missing A Vital Element
“Don’t Overthink It: Make Easier Decisions, Stop Second-Guessing, and Bring More Joy to Your Life”. Doesn’t this title grab your attention immediately? It did mine, especially when I saw the author was Anne Bogel who also wrote one of my favorite non-fiction books, “Reading People”, a few years ago. Continue reading

Challenging and Convicting New Title from Christine Hoover
I have found that you can always count on Christine Hoover to provide a hard-hitting message with her books – and her newest release from BakerBooks is no exception. “With All Your Heart: Living Joyfully Through Allegiance to King Jesus” is a powerful book that compels readers to answer this question: If our hearts are made for allegiance to a king and kingdom (which they are) who and what are we consciously and unconsciously pledging our loyalty to? Who and what are we truly living for, with the thoughts and words and actions of our daily lives? It’s a profound question, and one that challenged and convicted me simultaneously. Continue reading
A Guide For Studying the Book of Jude
Whenever a new book in the Moody Bible Studies for Women series is released, it instantly goes on my ‘need-to-read’ list! The newest addition is entitled “Keeping the Faith: A Study in Jude”. Written by Lianna Davis, this is a 6-week study that dives deep into the small but powerful book of Jude – a portion of the Bible that is often overlooked. Continue reading
A Beautiful Devotional-Style Book for Animal Lovers
I am a seasonal/part-time pet sitter, and so the title of a new release from Harvest House Publishers immediately caught my attention… “My Hair-Raising and Heartwarming Adventures as a Pet Sitter: A Life of Fun, Fur, and Faith”! Written by professional pet sitter Christi Grace, this book is an anthology of stories about her career of caring for other peoples’ pets when they are away from home – as you can imagine, she has seen a little bit of everything! Amazing True Stories for All Ages
“Courageous World Changers: 50 True Stories of Daring Women of God” – doesn’t this title capture your attention and stir your curiosity? Who were these women, and what did they do for God? Although this beautiful volume – written by Shirley Raye Redmond and illustrated by Katya Longhi – is marketed as a children’s title by Harvest House Publishers, I really enjoyed reading it too! If you enjoy inspiring biographies about women of faith, I’m certain you will love it as much as I did. Continue reading
