Good Story, But A Little Repetitious – Guest Review by Hayley

“The Tinderbox” is a new release from beloved and esteemed author Beverly Lewis.  This book is just the first installment of the stories we will be able to share about the Miller family and their Amish community. Continue reading

Another Unforgettable Caribbean Story – Guest Review by Tracy

Thank you to my daughter Carly for the honour of reviewing this book on her blog.  And thank you to the author, Lisa T. Bergren, for “Verity”, an amazing and compelling book two in “The Sugar Baron’s Daughters” series. Continue reading

Fantastic Conclusion to the “High Sierra Sweethearts” Series

I’ve long been anticipating the third and final story in Mary Connealy’s “High Sierra Sweathearts” series, and at last “The Unexpected Champion” has been released! This exciting, sometimes-hilarious-sometimes-frightening story is a fitting conclusion to a unique series, and I’m so glad that everything is satisfactorily tied up for the family who claimed my imagination first in “The Accidental Guardian”, then “The Reluctant Warrior”. Continue reading

A Nail-Biting New Suspense from Davis Bunn

Picking up a Davis Bunn novel always guarantees you are in for a high-stakes, dangerous adventure packed with suspense, conspiracy, and intrigue. New from Mr. Bunn and Bethany House Publishers is “Outbreak”, a stand-alone novel that hooks you from the beginning, and keeps you guessing and breathless until the last page. Continue reading

Don’t Miss the Continuing Story of Haven Manor!

You know you are reading a book by a talented author when the words on the page form a story that is equal parts hilarious and tragic, messy and endearing. Kristi Ann Hunter’s second novel in the “Haven Manor” series from Bethany House Publishers is a close continuation of the first installment, and is entitled “A Return of Devotion”. This charming book draws you into the dilemmas of the characters from the first page, and had me scarcely able to turn the pages fast enough to discover how the heroine would get herself out of the terrible fix she was in! A Thrilling Story Infused With Hope

Jaime Jo Wright is a Christy Award-winning author who is quickly becoming more recognized for her incredible storytelling skills. In each of her novels, she brings dark and thrilling stories to life while simultaneously infusing them with truth and light. Usually set in two different time periods and with two casts of characters, the plot of past and present is intricately intertwined (but not fully revealed until the nail-biting conclusion). The newest Bethany House release from Jaime Jo Wright is “The Curse of Misty Wayfair”; perhaps the most haunting, and yet also the most inspiring, of her novels so far. Continue reading

History + Science + Fiction = A New Elizabeth Camden Novel

Elizabeth Camden’s stories are always compelling and engaging, capable of sweeping her readers away with incredible, historical feats of science and engineering that are revealed through the lens of (fictional) people living in that time period. Ms. Camden’s newest release from Bethany House, “A Desperate Hope”, is another sequel to a couple of her previous books, (“A Dangerous Legacy” and “A Daring Venture”) but can very easily be read on it’s own, as well. Continue reading

A New and Captivating Historical Drama from Jocelyn Green

Jocelyn Green’s talent for bringing history to life is unmatched. “Between Two Shores” is her newest release from Bethany House, and is set in Montreal in 1759 during the Seven Years’ War. Told from the perspective of a woman caught in the middle of two nations, two sides of her family, and two differing perspectives about the man she loves, this gripping story yanks readers into the drama of war and holds us captive until the final page. Continue reading

One Final Visit to Curry, Alaska

Don’t you love a novel series where the setting and characters are so memorable that they live in your imagination long after finishing the final page? “The Heart of Alaska” collection written by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse and published by Bethany House is just such a series, and although “Under the Midnight Sun” is the final saga we will hear from the Curry Hotel family, their stories will long live in my memory! Continue reading

Fascinating Biblical Fiction About One of Judea’s Greatest Leaders

Angela Hunt’s masterfully written biblical fiction always exceeds my expectations. As we step into the pages of the story, we are carried back in time to Israel before the birth of Jesus, and can see, hear, smell, taste, and almost touch the ancient setting that envelops us. Ms. Hunt’s newest novel is just as incredible (and based on historical fact) as her previous works, and is a continuation of her “Silent Years” series. “Jerusalem’s Queen: A Novel of Salome Alexandra” is the story of one of Judea’s greatest rulers, who lived in the time period between the writing of the Old Testament and the New Testament. In fact, Salome Alexandra’s reign ended only a few years before the Messiah was born, and her peaceful influence over Jerusalem (after a time of unrest and horrific atrocities from the leaders of the nation) paved the way for Jesus’ lifetime.
