Ever since the release of Sarah Beth Marr’s first book, “Dreaming With God”, I have been looking forward to discovering what her next writing project would be. . . Now, a year later, her second release from BakerBooks is available and entitled “Whispers and WIldflowers: 30 Days to Slow Your Pace, Savor Scripture & Draw Closer to God”. Continue reading

A Thrilling Story Infused With Hope
Jaime Jo Wright is a Christy Award-winning author who is quickly becoming more recognized for her incredible storytelling skills. In each of her novels, she brings dark and thrilling stories to life while simultaneously infusing them with truth and light. Usually set in two different time periods and with two casts of characters, the plot of past and present is intricately intertwined (but not fully revealed until the nail-biting conclusion). The newest Bethany House release from Jaime Jo Wright is “The Curse of Misty Wayfair”; perhaps the most haunting, and yet also the most inspiring, of her novels so far. Continue reading
History + Science + Fiction = A New Elizabeth Camden Novel
Elizabeth Camden’s stories are always compelling and engaging, capable of sweeping her readers away with incredible, historical feats of science and engineering that are revealed through the lens of (fictional) people living in that time period. Ms. Camden’s newest release from Bethany House, “A Desperate Hope”, is another sequel to a couple of her previous books, (“A Dangerous Legacy” and “A Daring Venture”) but can very easily be read on it’s own, as well. Continue reading
A Beautiful Edition of a Classic Tale
When a special 20th Anniversary Edition of “one of the most beloved Christian romance novels of all time” released, and I had never read it, I immediately knew what was next on my TBR list! “The Princess” was originally written in 1999 by Lori Wick and quickly became a bestselling classic, with more than 275,000 copies sold. In March of 2019, Harvest House Publishers re-released the story in a gorgeous hardcover keepsake edition, complete with ribbon bookmark and foil-adorned cover. Now a new generation of readers, myself included, can enjoy the gentle love story set in the fictional land of Pendaran. Continue reading
Biblical Characters Come to Life in Jill Eileen Smith’s New Non-Fiction Release – Guest Review by Hayley
Many of the non-fiction books that I gravitate toward have to do with women of the Bible. I was excited to see that this new release from Revell “When Life Doesn’t Match Your Dreams: Hope for Today from 12 Women of the Bible” revolved around exactly that topic, and from Jill Eileen Smith, an incredibly talented Biblical fiction author! I believe this book, even now that I am finished it, will help me to read the Bible with a much deeper ability to relate to the people and stories within it’s pages. They really were not as different from you and me as it might feel from a quick reading. Continue reading
An Incredible Debut Novel
Have you ever read a book that was challenging, emotional, and perhaps even uncomfortable – but at the same time you couldn’t put it down because it was so richly written, engrossing and empathetic? This was my experience with “We Hope for Better Things”, an incredible debut novel written by Erin Bartels and published by Revell. This story weaves the past and present into an unforgettable journey told through the eyes of three women united in the same family, but separated by years of time. Continue reading
Another Masterpiece by Kristy Cambron
Kristy Cambron’s second installment in her “Lost Castle” series is even better than the first! Captivating and compelling, “Castle on the Rise” tells three unique but connected stories of three generations of women (from 1797, 1916, and present day), all woven into one unforgettable masterpiece of a novel. Released from Thomas Nelson early in 2019, this beautiful story is a must-read for anyone who has enjoyed the previous story in the series, loves the intricate weaving of dual- or triple-time novels, and/or is a fan of the incredibly talented Kristy Cambron. Continue reading
A Bittersweet Final Visit to Ivy Hill
It is always a bittersweet moment when I reach the final words of a delightful and much-loved series, and Julie Klassen’s memorable “Tales from Ivy Hill” is definitely no exception. “The Bride of Ivy Green” is the final installment of the trilogy published by Bethany House, and allows readers one last visit to the beloved little town of Ivy Hill and all its inhabitants. If you have already enjoyed “The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill” and “The Ladies of Ivy Cottage”, you will be delighted with this satisfying, and oftentimes surprising, final installment. Continue reading
Lysa’s New Book Helps Us Find Unexpected Strength in the Midst of Shattering Disappointments
Many women around the world have found hope, encouragement, and inspiration from the messages of Lysa TerKeurst’s numerous books. Her newest release from Thomas Nelson Publishers is entitled “It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way: Finding Unexpected Strength When Disappointments Leave You Shattered”, and is undoubtedly her most raw and transparent book to date. In these pages, Lysa helps us process a question that we all ask at some point in our lives; “What do you do when God’s timing seems questionable, His lack of intervention hurtful, and His promises doubtful?” Sound familiar? Then you’ve come to the right place. Continue reading
An Incredible Story of God’s Redeeming Love in Our Darkest Moments
With her new release from Thomas Nelson publishers, Tamera Alexander once again reminds her readers precisely why she is a bestselling author – her stories are masterfully written with powerful themes and unforgettable characters, often revolving around true historical events. “With This Pledge” is undoubtedly her most heart-wrenching work to date, yet also one of her most beautiful, as it contrasts the unimaginable horrors of the Civil War with the promise and hope of God’s unending and never-failing love. While it will take courage to read this incredible story, the rewards that it offers by helping us deepen our empathy, faith, and hope, are more than worth it. Continue reading
