What an unexpected, almost bizarre (in a good way) story this turned out to be! “Crossed Lines” is the second book in the “Love Along the Wires” series by Jennifer Delamere, and features a plot that completely took me by surprise in so many ways. Continue reading

Pack Your Bags, We’re Heading to Texas!
My summer just would not be complete if I didn’t get my annual Karen Witemeyer western fix! (Although October now, it’s better late than never, lol!) “The Heart’s Charge” is the new addition to the “Hanger’s Horsemen” series from Bethany House, and also a novel that can be enjoyed all on its own. Interestingly, we get two separate-but-connected, equally important, romantic adventures in this single sweeping story. How cool is that?!

Breathtaking. …
I wait with breathless anticipation for each of Joanna Davidson Politano’s new books. When “A Midnight Dance” released from Revell, I was so excited to curl up during a peaceful afternoon and dive into Ms. Politano’s captivating new world of ballet – and then chaos struck our family. I found myself instead reading this long-anticipated novel in the waiting room of a hospital – and perhaps this made the story even more poignant and thought-provoking. At first it was a little difficult to ‘get into’, probably because of all the distractions in my life at the time. But once I was ‘in’, oh my, it was hard to come back out! Continue reading
A Tale Of Secrets That Will Speak To Your Heart
I’ve never before read a book by Amanda Cox, but I was so impressed with “The Secret Keepers of Old Depot Grocery” that I will definitely be searching out more titles by this talented author! Published by Revell in the summer of 2021, this book captivated me from start to finish with the story of how a family-run grocery store is the thread that ties generations of women – and their secrets – together into a heart wrenching tale of love and loss. Continue reading
A Bible Study We All Need Right Now
Whenever a new title in the Moody Bible Studies for Women series releases, it immediately goes to the very top of my reading list. The latest addition is “The Extraordinary Power of Praise: A 6-Week Study of the Psalms for the Anxious Heart” by Becky Harling. Doesn’t this sound like a book we could all use about now? Continue reading
A Small Book With A Big Impact
“What If Jesus Was Serious About Prayer? A Visual Guide to the Spiritual Practice Most of Us Get Wrong” by Skye Jethani definitely has a title that captures your attention, doesn’t it? Published by Moody in the summer of 2021, this compact little book is overflowing with thought-provoking “If Jesus was serious” statements, followed by a deeper look into the ripple effect of taking that statement to heart. Continue reading
A Perfect End-Of-Summer Visit to PEI
What better way to end the summer than with a trip to Prince Edward Island? I don’t mean literally, (though that would be nice!) but with Liz Johnson as our imagination’s guide, we can once again visit The Island in her new series from Revell entitled “Prince Edward Island Shores”. Continue reading
Fascinating and Profound New Biblical Fiction from Angela Hunt!
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this new Bethany House release from Angela Hunt, but it ended up being the most thought-provoking novel I’ve read in a long while. “A Woman of Words” is based on the lives of two fascinating people from the New Testament, and an unlikely pair of narrators – Mary, mother of Jesus, and former-tax-collector-turned-disciple, Matthew. Continue reading
My Top Must-Read Story Of The Summer
Sometimes we need a gentle, slow-paced story that reminds us to take a deep breath and just…. be. “The Nature of Small Birds” by Susie Finkbeiner was just such a book for me, and it was also one of my favourite novels of the entire year. This story is told in a chapter pattern where the entire book goes through the sequence of perspectives for three different family members, at varying time periods of their lives. The neat part? This story is primarily about a girl named Mindy, but she is not even one of the narrators telling the story! Continue reading
Yet Another Memorable Story From Janette Oke!

Isn’t it amazing that after so many decades of writing inspirational, faith-filled novels that have touched the hearts of readers too numerous to count, Janette Oke is still releasing stories that take you on a journey of hope and love? Once again alongside her daughter Laurel Oke Logan, Janette gives us the sweet second story in the “When Hope Calls” trilogy, entitled “Sustaining Faith”. Published by Bethany House Publishers and the companion story to the Hallmark television series of the name, this story is even more compelling and heart-wrenching than the first book, “Unyielding Hope”.
