I enjoyed the first story in Amanda Cabot’s “Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing” series, so it was a given that I’d have to give the second installment a try. “Against the Wind” tells the story of the youngest Vaughn daughter, Louisa, and her return to the town where she grew up. Picking up where the last novel left off, we jump right into the thick of things in the aftermath of the town doctor’s death. Will Louisa be able to fill his shoes in caring for the health of the community members, or will the fact that she’s a woman deter them from reaching out to her for help…? Continue reading

Wild West Meets Old Fashioned Fairy Tales In Karen Witemeyer’s New Series!
It truly doesn’t get any better than this, folks! Wild West meets old-fashioned fairy tale in the incredible Karen Witemeyer’s newest release from Bethany House: “Fairest of Heart”! As the first story in the “Texas Ever After” series, this tale includes all the signature qualities of a well-told western, but with a twist…. The foundational plot is straight from the tradition of a classic fairy tale we all know and love; Snow White and the Seven Dwarves! Continue reading
Step Back In Time To Sweetwater Crossing
As you probably know, Christian Historical Fiction is my favorite genre hands-down. More specifically, stories with a traditional western setting during the 1800s are my go-to choices. So Amanda Cabot’s writing is always appealing to me, and when I saw that her new series entitled “Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing” is set in a little Texas town where love grows even as mysteries threaten to divide, I knew I wanted to give it a try! Continue reading
Now My Summer Is Complete!
I know I’ve said it before, but I’m going to say it again – my summer would not be complete without reading a new Karen Witemeyer novel right in the middle! “In Honor’s Defense” is the latest Bethany House release from this prolific and bestselling author, and it is definitely one of my favorites. It is also the third and final story of the “Hanger’s Horsemen” saga, and so it ties up all the lose ends we’ve been wondering about. Continue reading
Pack Your Bags, We’re Heading to Texas!
My summer just would not be complete if I didn’t get my annual Karen Witemeyer western fix! (Although October now, it’s better late than never, lol!) “The Heart’s Charge” is the new addition to the “Hanger’s Horsemen” series from Bethany House, and also a novel that can be enjoyed all on its own. Interestingly, we get two separate-but-connected, equally important, romantic adventures in this single sweeping story. How cool is that?!

A Perfect Conclusion to a Memorable Historical Series
Amanda Cabot’s “Cimarron Creek Trilogry” has reached its conclusion, as “A Tender Hope” released from Revell Publishers earlier this spring. Although each novel in the series was a complete tale of its own, the overarching storylines that wove the books together are finally tied up in a satisfying conclusion for the characters we’ve already become acquainted with. Continue reading
A Beautiful Continuation of the Sunrise at Normandy Series – Guest Review by Hayley
In my reading pile, a new release by Sarah Sundin is always very eagerly anticipated! This absolutely includes her newest release “The Sky Above Us”. This book overlaps in timing with “The Sea Before Us” as all the characters prepare for the same invasion on D-Day. Continue reading
The Second Cimarron Creek Story
If you are a fan of Christian Historical Fiction, the name Amanda Cabot is likely one you’ve come across before. As the bestselling author of “A Stolen Heart” – book number one in the “Cimarron Creek Trilogy” – Ms. Cabot shares stories that will inspire your heart and intrigue your imagination. “A Borrowed Dream”, her newest book and the sequel to “A Stolen Heart”, was published by Revell in the spring of 2018.
“A Borrowed Dream” is a novel that truly contains a bit of everything… Romance, heartache, mystery, deception, joy, hate and love. Continue reading
Karen Witemeyer NEVER Disappoints! (A Guest Review by Hayley)
I’ve read and enjoyed many of Karen Witemeyer’s novels. So with the new release of “Heart on the Line”, there was no question as to whether or not it would be in my TBR pile. As the second “Ladies of Harper Station” novel, “Heart on the Line” follows the story of Grace Mallory, a character we are already somewhat acquainted with from “No Other Will Do”. Continue reading
Don’t you love it when you decide to try a new novel by a new author, and it ends up becoming your new favorite? That is exactly what happened to me when I read “Collision of Lies” written by Tom Threadgill and published by Revell early in 2020. With a fast pace, elements of humor, and a plot that will keep you riveted until the end, it was one of the most enjoyable Christian Suspense novels I’ve read in a long time.
