A Must Read This Remembrance Day – Guest Review by Hayley

To this day “Set The Stars Alight” remains one of the best books I have ever had the privilege of reading.  Thus, as the next release from this author, “Yours is the Night” had much to live up to, and Amanda Dykes did not disappoint.  Once again she has created an incredible story with her signature style of poetically beautiful writing and heart-wrenching emotion infused with deeply symbolic meaning behind each word.  The back cover classifies this book as only Historical Fiction – but it is so much more than just that. This Story Drove Me Crazy! (In A Good Way)

What an unexpected, almost bizarre (in a good way) story this turned out to be!  Crossed Lines” is the second book in the “Love Along the Wires” series by Jennifer Delamere, and features a plot that completely took me by surprise in so many ways.   Continue reading

One Last Visit to Heritage, Michigan

I’ve followed the story of “Restoring Heritage” since the beginning, and have spent numerous pleasant afternoons in this little town, revisiting all the locals.  Since You’ve Been Gone” is the third book in what I assume is a trilogy(?) by Tari Faris, and it was lovely to meet a couple new characters and watch their stories both unfold afresh and tie in with the previous developments in the first two books.  An unexpected secondary romance is also featured, and will prove rather shocking as it illustrates that people really can change for the better when they accept God into their loves. Pack Your Bags, We’re Heading to Texas!

My summer just would not be complete if I didn’t get my annual Karen Witemeyer  western fix!  (Although October now, it’s better late than never, lol!)  The Heart’s Charge” is the new addition to the “Hanger’s Horsemen” series from Bethany House, and also a novel that can be enjoyed all on its own.  Interestingly, we get two separate-but-connected, equally important, romantic adventures in this single sweeping story.  How cool is that?!

A Tale Of Secrets That Will Speak To Your Heart

I’ve never before read a book by Amanda Cox, but I was so impressed with “The Secret Keepers of Old Depot Grocery” that I will definitely be searching out more titles by this talented author!  Published by Revell in the summer of 2021, this book captivated me from start to finish with the story of how a family-run grocery store is the thread that ties generations of women – and their secrets – together into a heart wrenching tale of love and loss.   Continue reading

A Perfect End-Of-Summer Visit to PEI

What better way to end the summer than with a trip to Prince Edward Island?  I don’t mean literally, (though that would be nice!) but with Liz Johnson as our imagination’s guide, we can once again visit The Island in her new series from Revell entitled “Prince Edward Island Shores”.   Continue reading

My Top Must-Read Story Of The Summer

Sometimes we need a gentle, slow-paced story that reminds us to take a deep breath and just…. be.  The Nature of Small Birds” by Susie Finkbeiner was just such a book for me, and it was also one of my favourite novels of the entire year.  This story is told in a chapter pattern where the entire book goes through the sequence of perspectives for three different family members, at varying time periods of their lives.  The neat part?  This story is primarily about a girl named Mindy, but she is not even one of the narrators telling the story! I Don’t Want It To Be Over!

Becky Wade has become a must-read author for me – each time she releases something new, it quickly goes to the very top of my reading list!  “Let It Be Me” is the second book in the “Misty River Romance” series, and it was the best contemporary romance I’ve read in a long while. . .  Published by Bethany House during the hot days of summer 2021, this book captivated me from start to finish, and was a balm for my heart as I relished each page of these two memorable characters’ stories.   Continue reading

Yet Another Memorable Story From Janette Oke!

Isn’t it amazing that after so many decades of writing inspirational, faith-filled novels that have touched the hearts of readers too numerous to count, Janette Oke is still releasing stories that take you on a journey of hope and love?  Once again alongside her daughter Laurel Oke Logan, Janette gives us the sweet second story in the “When Hope Calls” trilogy, entitled “Sustaining Faith”.  Published by Bethany House Publishers and the companion story to the Hallmark television series of the name, this story is  even more compelling and heart-wrenching than the first book, “Unyielding Hope”.   Continue reading

A Truly Great Story – guest review by Hayley

All That Really Matters” is a book I have anticipated ever since Nicole Deese’s previous release.  After her last book rose to be among the top titles of my favourites list, (and still remains there to this day) I couldn’t wait for this one.  And although I know you “can’t judge a book by it’s cover”, I just have to say that the cover of this book is SO stunning!

I would describe this book as… sparkly, much like it’s heroine!  Not because it is light and fluffy – it’s not.  More because of the sparkling talent that this author clearly has for storytelling, creating amazingly life-like characters, and using very unique storylines.  I can honestly say I have never read a book that had even a similar storyline to this one.
