“Shepherding Women in Pain: Real Women, Real Issues, And What You Need to Know to Truly Help” by Bev Hislop is a valuable book for those wanting to understand and offer love and support to women and the many issues they are dealing with, often silently. This book provides an abundance of knowledge for deep questions, such as: how can I stop the pain? The chapters about the issue itself offer true stories, input from professionals, practical suggestions, things to say and do, things to avoid, resources, related scriptures, etc. I included the contents of the book as this speaks volumes for itself (it is organized into 3 sections). Finally! A New Karen Witemeyer Novel!
Each summer I look forward to a new release from one of my favorite authors of Christian Historical Fiction… Karen Witemeyer! Her summer 2020 release from Bethany House is actually the first book in a new series called “Hanger’s Horsemen” and was well worth the wait! If you love western adventures, clean romances, and stories that will tug at your heartstrings, look no further than “At Love’s Command”. Continue reading
I Love Ann Gabhart’s Appalachian Stories!
I adore all of Ann H. Gabhart’s novels that I’ve had the pleasure of reading, but her stories set in the Appalachian mountains are somehow extra-special. “An Appalachian Summer” released from Revell in the summer of 2020, and was a whimsical, romantic novel that carried me away to another time and place, and surrounded me with characters who quickly felt like friends. Continue reading
Rich and Real and Raw
“What Momma Left Behind” by Cindy K. Sproles was a unique book in so many ways. Published by Revell in the summer of 2020, this book is set in the Appalachian Mountains in 1877, when influenza and typhoid outbreaks were running rampant in the region and left few families untouched by tragedy. Because of this setting, Cindy’s novel is definitely not a light and carefree story – but one that is inspiring and rich in historical details. Continue reading
A New Novel from Janette Oke – What Could Be Better!
It feels like a long time since I’ve read anything by beloved author Janette Oke and her daughter Laurel Oke Logan, so I was delighted to hear that they are once again releasing a new series of books from Bethany House! This time it is the “When Hope Calls” series based on the Hallmark TV show of the same name – and it is distantly connected to the “Return to the Canadian West” / “When Calls the Heart” series as well. But anyway, aside from all the connections this new story makes, “Unyielding Hope” is a lovely story in its own right! Continue reading
A Fabulous Start to the “Misty River Romance” Series
One element that all of Becky Wade’s stories have in common is that I simply never want them to end! “Stay With Me” is her newest release, and the first book in the “Misty River Romance” series from Bethany House Publishers. As soon as I opened to chapter one, I was swept away by this captivating drama filled with vibrant characters and an absorbing storyline. Truly, Becky Wade can write a novel like no other – she is a master of her craft! Continue reading

A Guide For Studying the Book of Jude
Whenever a new book in the Moody Bible Studies for Women series is released, it instantly goes on my ‘need-to-read’ list! The newest addition is entitled “Keeping the Faith: A Study in Jude”. Written by Lianna Davis, this is a 6-week study that dives deep into the small but powerful book of Jude – a portion of the Bible that is often overlooked. Continue reading
A Beautiful Devotional-Style Book for Animal Lovers
I am a seasonal/part-time pet sitter, and so the title of a new release from Harvest House Publishers immediately caught my attention… “My Hair-Raising and Heartwarming Adventures as a Pet Sitter: A Life of Fun, Fur, and Faith”! Written by professional pet sitter Christi Grace, this book is an anthology of stories about her career of caring for other peoples’ pets when they are away from home – as you can imagine, she has seen a little bit of everything! Continue reading
Amazing True Stories for All Ages
“Courageous World Changers: 50 True Stories of Daring Women of God” – doesn’t this title capture your attention and stir your curiosity? Who were these women, and what did they do for God? Although this beautiful volume – written by Shirley Raye Redmond and illustrated by Katya Longhi – is marketed as a children’s title by Harvest House Publishers, I really enjoyed reading it too! If you enjoy inspiring biographies about women of faith, I’m certain you will love it as much as I did. Continue reading
