When I pick up a book by Susie Larson, I know that I will be challenged, humbled, and provided with so much wisdom and godly strength that I will not be able to remain unchanged after reading it. “Strong in Battle: Why the Humble Will Prevail” is her newest release from Bethany House Publishers, and is perhaps her most powerful work yet. I honestly gained so much from this book that it’s hard to describe… but I shall do my best, because it deserves accolades in abundance. Continue reading

This Middle Story Is Filled With Surprises!

The long-awaited second story in Kimberley Woodhouse’s “Secrets of the Canyon” series is finally here! Published by Bethany House in the late summer of 2022, “A Gem of Truth” was an unexpected and delightful journey of discovery – in more ways than one. Continue reading
So Much Life Is Held Within These Pages
What a beautiful, unexpected, ‘overflowing’ book this was! What do I mean by overflowing? Well, there was just so much story, emotion, and ‘living’ held within the pages of this story, that it truly seems to overflow with it all – in the best way possible…. “By Way of the Moonlight” was written by the amazingly talented Elizabeth Musser and published by Bethany House. It is the second book I’ve read by this author, and it cements my opinion that she is unparalleled in her craft as a writer of emotional, multi-layered fiction that is not afraid to dive deep into the longings of the human soul. Continue reading
Now My Summer Is Complete!
I know I’ve said it before, but I’m going to say it again – my summer would not be complete without reading a new Karen Witemeyer novel right in the middle! “In Honor’s Defense” is the latest Bethany House release from this prolific and bestselling author, and it is definitely one of my favorites. It is also the third and final story of the “Hanger’s Horsemen” saga, and so it ties up all the lose ends we’ve been wondering about. Continue reading
An Unhurried Story of Love and Forgiveness – Guest Review by Hayley
“Where the Road Bends” is a sweet story that historical fiction fans will treasure. This was the first novel I’ve read by Rachel Fordham, and I was impressed by the unique story line. Continue reading
Janette Oke’s Legacy Continues
We’ve reached the end of an era, folks! Janette Oke, along with her daughter Laurel Oke Logan, have just penned what I presume will be their last novel. Of course only time will tell if the duo has any more stories up their sleeves, but perhaps Janette is at last ready for retirement after decades of bringing us some of the most iconic and beloved stories in the Christian Historical Fiction genre. Continue reading
An Unforgettable Debut
I love reading debut novels for so many reasons… One of them is because I am never quite sure what to expect, and so often I’m blown away by the newly revealed talent of a special young author. This was the case with a summer 2022 release from Revell. Written by Sara Brunsvold, “The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip: All the wild ways to die could never compare to how she really lived” is a beautiful, unexpected, poignant tale that will make you cry and smile, laugh and ponder. It is one of those books that can be read again soon, and still you will learn so much from the wisdom held in each page. Continue reading
A Powerful and Gripping Sequel
Leave it to the amazing Elizabeth Camden to pen a second-in-the-series story that is even more incredible than the first! “The Blackstone Legacy” from Bethany House Publishers continues with “Written on the Wind”, a powerful and impactful novel that swept me away from the first page. It is so compelling, with characters so vivid and memorable, that I could hardly stop reading even for necessities such as eating and sleeping… Continue reading
A Mind-bending New Novel! – Guest Review by Hayley

“When the Day Comes” is like nothing I’ve ever read. It’s sort of like Christian historical fiction meets “Back to the Future” – if you can imagine that! One description I would use in reference to this book is mind-bending. The concept of time-travel is, of course, difficult to grasp. It’s interesting to think of all the implications that would come with time-travel if it were actually real. One of the biggest take-aways from this book is how much our choices matter, and how even small choices have the potential to change the course of history. But most importantly, no matter our actions, God is sovereign over it all. Continue reading
An Exceptional Story – Guest Review by Hayley

If you enjoyed Nicole Deese’s previous release “All That Really Matters,” then you will be excited for her new release “All That It Takes.” This book brings secondary characters from the last book into the spotlight for their own story. Continue reading
